Hello hello and welcome back to Tremendously Chaotic! This is your host, Aliza, once again at your service.
In my last post, I showed you how to start a blog with $0 in 2025. [Read here] But here’s the next big question I know many of you are stuck on:
Okay, I’ve set up my blog… but what do I actually write about?
This is where choosing the right blog niche comes in. And let me be honest with you—it can feel overwhelming. I’ve been there myself. In fact, I’ve switched between five different niches before finally landing where I am today.
By the end of this post, I promise you’ll feel clear and confident about how to choose your niche and finally start building a blog that earns.
My Story: From Fiction to Finding My Niche
When I started blogging, I wrote about fiction. I turned real-life moments into stories, and while I had readers, it wasn’t profitable.
Then I moved to mental health, because after graduation I was going through an existential crisis and thought others might relate. After that, I switched to weight loss and recipes, since I was on that journey myself. I even wrote about Ozempic, because it was trending and I had personal experience with it.
Later, I switched again to dark romance and book recommendations (I love reading them). But that made me fall out of love with books altogether.
Finally, I circled back to empowering people and helping them make money online. And here I am today, blogging about blogging—a topic that actually makes sense to me and aligns with what I know.
What Is a Niche, Really?
Think of your niche as the foundation of your blog. If your blog is the house, then your niche is the ground it stands on. Without it, everything crumbles.
There are two types of niches:
Passion niches – Topics you love writing about, like books, mental health, lifestyle, or skincare. These may earn a little less, but they’ll keep you motivated.
Profit niches – Business-driven topics like finance, tech, digital marketing, or AI. These usually bring in higher income streams through ads, affiliates, and products.
Pro tip: The sweet spot is when you find a niche that combines both passion and profit. That’s when blogging becomes fun and financially rewarding.
3 Questions to Ask Yourself Before Choosing a Niche
Before you commit, sit with these questions:
Can I write at least 20 blog posts on this topic without running out of ideas?
Do people actively search for this online (Google, Pinterest, X)?
Can this niche actually make me money (ads, affiliates, digital products)?
If you can confidently say yes to all three—you’ve found your niche.
Popular Niches in 2025
If you’re looking for ideas, here are some highly profitable niches right now (and into 2026):
1. Tech & AI Tools
Artificial Intelligence isn’t going anywhere. From ChatGPT tutorials to productivity hacks with AI, this niche is booming. Every new update means fresh content opportunities.
2. Personal Finance & Making Money Online
People want financial freedom more than ever. Blogging about budgeting, side hustles, or freelancing platforms is one of the fastest ways to attract readers.
3. Health & Wellness
From fitness routines to mindful living, this niche is evergreen. Bonus: It ties well with affiliate marketing (think supplements, fitness gear, or health apps).
4. Productivity & Self-Growth
Everyone wants to “optimize” their lives. Think morning routines, goal-setting, focus hacks, and motivation. This niche also works beautifully on Pinterest.
5. Lifestyle
Yes, it’s broad—but it still works if you bring your unique perspective. From home decor to skincare routines, lifestyle blogging is flexible and relatable.
💡 Extra Tip: Blend these! For example, AI tools for productivity or wellness for entrepreneurs. Cross-niches often stand out more than generic ones.
Mistakes to Avoid When Picking a Niche
Don’t switch niches every other month (Google and Pinterest algorithms won’t like it).
Don’t delete old posts—even if you pivot. Old URLs can still bring you traffic.
Don’t wait for perfect. Publish messy, improve later.
Clarity doesn’t come from thinking, it comes from doing.
The best niche is the one you start with.
